​Birth Story Listening Session

 Have you had (or attended) a traumatic birth, or does your birth story need to be told in a completely supportive space? The importance of our births and our stories is often underestimated. Often when we tell our birth stories in the wrong space or to the wrong person, we might feel judged, misunderstood, vulnerable or even more wounded when we are done speaking. Meanwhile, segments of our culture practically demand that we tell our birth story (or publish it on social media) even before we have had time to process and internalize it for ourselves. On the other hand, other parts of our culture expect us to "just be thankful" for a healthy baby or a healthy mother, and we might be made to feel selfish for mourning aspects of our births.

​Even births that seem to have gone "as planned" may leave birthing people feeling raw, confused, unresolved and in pain. When your birth veers away from the path you hoped or expected it would follow, the feelings can be very intense and hard to grapple with alone. I believe that you deserve the space to tell your story and find the healing within it. I am available either in person or by phone/zoom to help you process your story in a comforting, honest, and healing professional session. During these sessions we will find the parts of your story needing attention and healing, and find a pathway forward into integrating your story into your daily life meaningfully and bravely.  Birth Story Listening Session Details

Sessions usually last between 60 and 90 minutes. Please schedule when you will be able to focus on the session uninterrupted without children or others present, even if it is a phone session. I recommend you allow time after your session to reflect and pause before continuing with your day. I am trained in Birth Story Listening by Birthing From Within. Individual sessions are available for birthing parents, mothers, fathers, and anyone who was present at a birth. The cost of a session is based on a sliding scale from $30 to $130, based on your ability to pay.
